I have never trusted the power of wealth,

and it disappears like a shadow. Our struggles are senseless; we store up more and more, without ever knowing who will get it all.

Don't trust in violence or depend on dishonesty or rely on great wealth.

But if you cannot afford to replace the animals, you must be sold as a slave to pay for what you have stolen. If you steal an ox, donkey, or sheep, and are caught with it still alive, you must pay the owner double. If you happen to kill a burglar who breaks into your home after dark, you are not guilty. But if you kill someone who breaks in during the day, you are guilty of murder.

When God is angry, money won't help you. Obeying God is the only way to be saved from death.

It's much better to be wise and sensible than to be rich.

If we please God, he will make us wise, understanding, and happy. But if we sin, God will make us struggle for a living, then he will give all we own to someone who pleases him. This makes no more sense than chasing the wind.

Not even your silver or gold can save you on that day when I, the LORD, am angry. My anger will flare up like a furious fire scorching the earth and everyone on it.”

Jesus replied, “If you want to be perfect, go and sell everything you own! Give the money to the poor, and you will have riches in heaven. Then come and be my follower.”

Instead, store up your treasures in heaven, where moths and rust cannot destroy them, and thieves cannot break in and steal them.

“This is what happens to people who store up everything for themselves, but are poor in the sight of God.”

Sell what you have and give the money to the poor. Make yourselves money bags that never wear out. Make sure your treasure is safe in heaven, where thieves cannot steal it and moths cannot destroy it.

You would not let a thief break into your home, if you knew when the thief was coming.

When Jesus heard this, he said, “There is one thing you still need to do. Go and sell everything you own! Give the money to the poor, and you will have riches in heaven. Then come and be my follower.”

Jesus saw how sad the man was. So he said, “It's terribly hard for rich people to get into God's kingdom!

Warn the rich people of this world not to be proud or to trust in wealth that is easily lost. Tell them to have faith in God, who is rich and blesses us with everything we need to enjoy life.

Don't fall in love with money. Be satisfied with what you have. The Lord has promised that he will not leave us or desert us.
