How often does he strike them like a storm that scatters straw?

That isn't true of those who are evil, because they are like straw blown by the wind.

Send your angel after them and let them be like straw in the wind.

Your strongest leaders will be like dry wood set on fire by their idols. No one will be able to help, as they all go up in flames.

But even if they roar like a fearsome flood, God will give the command to turn them back. They will be like dust, or like straw blowing across the hills in a storm.

I am no longer angry. But if it produces thorns, I will go to war against it and burn it to the ground.

Wheat and barley are pounded, but not beaten to pulp; they are run over with a wagon, but not ground to dust.

Even the oxen and donkeys that plough your fields will be fed the finest grain.

My people will go out and look at the dead bodies of those who turned against me. The worms there never die, the fire never stops burning, and the sight of those bodies will be disgusting to everyone.

Foreign soldiers will come from every direction, and when the disaster is over, Babylonia will be empty and worthless.

And now, I, the LORD All-Powerful, will flood Judah with my fiery anger until nothing is left—no people or animals, no trees or crops.

And so, all of you will vanish like the mist or the dew of early morning, or husks of grain in the wind or smoke from a chimney.

At my command, all of you will be sifted like grain. Israelites who remain faithful will be scattered among the nations. And the others will be trapped like rubbish in a sieve.

The day of judgment is certain to come. And it will be like a red-hot furnace with flames that burn up proud and sinful people, as though they were straw. Not a branch or a root will be left. I, the LORD All-Powerful, have spoken!

Leave the weeds alone until harvest time. Then I'll tell my workers to gather the weeds and tie them up and burn them. But I'll order them to store the wheat in my barn.”

The Son of Man will send out his angels, and they will gather from his kingdom everyone who does wrong or causes others to sin.

Then he will throw them into a flaming furnace, where people will cry and grit their teeth in pain.

But everyone who has done right will shine like the sun in their Father's kingdom. If you have ears, pay attention!

John said, “I am just baptizing with water. But someone more powerful is going to come, and I am not good enough even to untie his sandals. He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and with fire.

He cuts away every branch of mine that doesn't produce fruit. But he trims clean every branch that does produce fruit, so that it will produce even more fruit.
