At the end of the sixty-two weeks, the Chosen Leader will be killed and left with nothing. A foreign ruler and his army will sweep down like a mighty flood, leaving both the city and the temple in ruins, and war and destruction will continue until the end, just as God has decided.

The Son of Man did not come to be a slave master, but a slave who will give his life to rescue many people.

Others said, “Wait! Let's see if Elijah will come and save him.”

Jesus shouted and then died.

Jesus shouted, “Father, I put myself in your hands!” Then he died.

I am the good shepherd, and the good shepherd gives up his life for his sheep.

Just as the Father knows me, I know the Father, and I give up my life for my sheep.

A jar of cheap wine was there. Someone then soaked a sponge with the wine and held it up to Jesus' mouth on the stem of a hyssop plant.

After Jesus drank the wine, he said, “Everything is done!” He bowed his head and died.

We are people of flesh and blood. That is why Jesus became one of us. He died to destroy the devil, who had power over death.

God had the power to save Jesus from death. And while Jesus was on earth, he begged God with loud crying and tears to save him. He truly worshipped God, and God listened to his prayers.

But Christ was sinless, and he offered himself as an eternal and spiritual sacrifice to God. That's why his blood is much more powerful and makes our consciences clear. Now we can serve the living God and no longer do things that lead to death.
