The kings of this earth have all joined together to turn against the LORD and his chosen one.

I hear the crowds whisper, “Everyone is afraid!” They are plotting and scheming to murder me.

My enemies are plotting because they want me dead.

Doomed! You're doomed! At night you lie in bed, making evil plans. And when morning comes, you do what you've planned because you have the power.

You Pharisees and teachers of the Law of Moses are in for trouble! You're nothing but show-offs. You lock people out of the kingdom of heaven. You won't go in yourselves, and you keep others from going in.

Early the next morning the chief priests, the nation's leaders, and the teachers of the Law of Moses met together with the whole Jewish council. They tied up Jesus and led him off to Pilate.

About this same time Jesus was told that Pilate had given orders for some people from Galilee to be killed while they were offering sacrifices.

At daybreak the nation's leaders, the chief priests, and the teachers of the Law of Moses got together and brought Jesus before their council.

It was early in the morning when Jesus was taken from Caiaphas to the building where the Roman governor stayed. But the crowd waited outside. Any of them who had gone inside would have become unclean and would not be allowed to eat the Passover meal.

So they went into the temple before sunrise and started teaching. The high priest and his men called together their council, which included all Israel's leaders. Then they ordered the apostles to be brought to them from the jail.

The people who lived in Gaza found out he was there, and they decided to kill him at sunrise. So they went to the city gate and waited all night in the guardrooms on each side of the gate.

Saul sent guards to watch David's house all night and then to kill him in the morning. Michal, David's wife, told him, “If you don't escape tonight, they'll kill you tomorrow!”
