then read it to the people of Judah. Perhaps they will stop sinning when they hear what terrible things I plan for them. And if they turn to me, I will forgive them.”

God felt certain that Jerusalem would learn to respect and obey him. Then he would hold back from punishing the city and not wipe it out. But everyone there was eager to start sinning again.

He then sent more servants than he did the first time. But the tenants treated them in the same way.

But when they saw the man's son, they said, “Some day he will own the vineyard. Let's kill him! Then we can have it all for ourselves.”

Then a voice from heaven said, “This is my own dear Son, and I am pleased with him.”

The owner had a son he loved very much. Finally, he sent his son to the tenants because he thought they would respect him.

The owner then said to himself, “What am I going to do? I know what. I'll send my son, the one I love so much. They will surely respect him!”

No one has ever seen God. The only Son, who is truly God and is closest to the Father, has shown us what God is like.

I saw this happen, and I tell you that he is the Son of God.

God loved the people of this world so much that he gave his only Son, so that everyone who has faith in him will have eternal life and never really die.
