The deaf will be able to hear whatever is read to them; the blind will be freed from a life of darkness.

I will lead the blind on roads they have never known; I will guide them on paths they have never travelled. Their road is dark and rough, but I will give light to keep them from stumbling. This is my solemn promise.

You people are deaf and blind, but the LORD commands you to listen and to see.

We feel our way along, as if we were blind; we stumble at midday, as if it were night. We can see no better than someone dead.

The crowd told them to be quiet, but they shouted even louder, “Lord and Son of David, have pity on us!”

Blind and lame people came to Jesus in the temple, and he healed them.

Some people walked ahead of Jesus and others followed behind. They were all shouting, “Hooray for the Son of David! God bless the one who comes in the name of the Lord. Hooray for God in heaven above!”

“What do you think about the Messiah? Whose family will he come from?” They answered, “He will be a son of King David.”

Jesus and his disciples went to Jericho. And as they were leaving, they were followed by a large crowd. A blind beggar called Bartimaeus son of Timaeus was sitting beside the road.

“The Lord's Spirit has come to me, because he has chosen me to tell the good news to the poor. The Lord has sent me to announce freedom for prisoners, to give sight to the blind, to free everyone who suffers,

At that time Jesus was healing many people who were sick or in pain or were troubled by evil spirits, and he was giving sight to a lot of blind people.

But David was a prophet, and he knew that God had made a promise he would not break. He had told David that someone from his own family would some day be king.
