But many who are now first will be last, and many who are last will be first.

Which one of the sons obeyed his father? “The elder one,” the chief priests and leaders answered. Then Jesus told them: You can be sure that tax collectors and prostitutes will get into the kingdom of God before you ever will!

Many are invited, but only a few are chosen.

Go in through the narrow gate. The gate to destruction is wide, and the road that leads there is easy to follow. A lot of people go through that gate.

But many who are now first will be last, and many who are now last will be first.

Not one of the guests I first invited will get even a bite of my food!”

Jesus said, “In the same way there is more happiness in heaven because of one sinner who turns to God than over ninety-nine good people who don't need to.”

So I tell you that all her sins are forgiven, and that is why she has shown great love. But anyone who has been forgiven for only a little will show only a little love.”

The Law came, so that the full power of sin could be seen. Yet where sin was powerful, God's kindness was even more powerful.

God then accepted the people he had already decided to choose, and he has shared his glory with them.

What does all this mean? It means that the Gentiles were not trying to be acceptable to God, but they found that he would accept them if they had faith.

We always thank God that you believed the message we preached. It came from him, and it isn't something made up by humans. You accepted it as God's message, and now he is working in you.
