But I tell you not to divorce your wife unless she has committed some terrible sexual sin. If you divorce her, you will cause her to be unfaithful, just as any man who marries her is guilty of taking another man's wife.

It is a terrible sin for a man to divorce his wife and marry another woman. It is also a terrible sin for a man to marry a divorced woman.

I have heard terrible things about some of you. In fact, you are behaving worse than the Gentiles. A man is even sleeping with his own stepmother.

A wife should stay married to her husband until he dies. Then she is free to marry again, but only to a man who is a follower of the Lord.

A wife belongs to her husband instead of to herself, and a husband belongs to his wife instead of to himself.
