Jesus replied, “You are so heartless! That's why Moses allowed you to divorce your wife. But from the beginning God did not intend it to be that way.

That's why a man will leave his own father and mother. He marries a woman, and the two of them become like one person.

Don't be stubborn and rebel as your ancestors did at Meribah and Massah out in the desert.

The LORD said: My people, when you stood at the crossroads, I told you, “Follow the road your ancestors took, and you will find peace.” But you refused.

The Pharisees asked Jesus, “Why did Moses say that a man could write out divorce papers and send his wife away?”

Afterwards, Jesus appeared to his eleven disciples as they were eating. He scolded them because they were too stubborn to believe the ones who had seen him after he had been raised to life.

In my opinion that is what should be done, though I don't know of anything the Lord said about this matter.

David had earlier married Ahinoam from the town of Jezreel, so both she and Abigail were now David's wives.
