At that moment Jesus said: My Father, Lord of heaven and earth, I am grateful that you hid all this from wise and educated people and showed it to ordinary people.

Abram answered: The LORD God Most High made the heavens and the earth. And I have promised him

He prayed: LORD God of Israel, your throne is above the winged creatures. You created the heavens and the earth, and you alone rule the kingdoms of this world.

We thank you, our God, and praise you.

And so we humans fear God, because he shows no respect for those who are proud and think they know so much.

With praises from children and from tiny infants, you have built a fortress. It makes your enemies silent, and all who turn against you are left speechless.

You think you are clever and wise.

The LORD said: Heaven is my throne; the earth is my footstool. What kind of house could you build for me? In what place will I rest?

You are the God who was worshipped by my ancestors. Now I thank you and praise you for making me wise and telling me the king's dream, together with its meaning.”

To him the nations are far less than nothing; God controls the stars in the sky and everyone on this earth. When God does something, we cannot change it or even ask why.”

Jesus told him: Simon, son of Jonah, you are blessed! You didn't discover this on your own. It was shown to you by my Father in heaven.

The men said to Jesus, “Don't you hear what those children are saying?” “Yes, I do!” Jesus answered. “Don't you know that the Scriptures say, ‘Children and infants will sing praises’?”

“Father, if you will, please don't make me suffer by making me drink from this cup. But do what you want, and not what I want.”

Jesus said, “Father, forgive these people! They don't know what they're doing.” While the crowd stood there watching Jesus, the soldiers gambled for his clothes. The leaders insulted him by saying, “He saved others. Now he should save himself, if he really is God's chosen Messiah!”

After the stone had been rolled aside, Jesus looked up towards heaven and prayed, “Father, I thank you for answering my prayer.

Now I am deeply troubled, and I don't know what to say. But I must not ask my Father to keep me from this time of suffering. In fact, I came into the world to suffer.

So Father, bring glory to yourself. A voice from heaven then said, “I have already brought glory to myself, and I will do it again!”

This God made the world and everything in it. He is Lord of heaven and earth, and he doesn't live in temples built by human hands.

God's Spirit has shown you everything. His Spirit finds out everything, even what is deep in the mind of God.

The people were stubborn, and something still keeps them from seeing the truth when the Law is read. Only Christ can take away the covering that keeps them from seeing.

The boy Samuel served the LORD and wore a special linen garment
