You and this woman will hate each other; your descendants and hers will always be enemies. One of hers will strike you on the head, and you will strike him on the heel.”

All who hate me are controlled by the power of evil. Sentence them to death and send them down alive to the world of the dead.

Many were horrified at what happened to him. But everyone who saw him was even more horrified because he suffered until he no longer looked human.

God has decided that for seventy weeks, your people and your holy city must suffer as the price of their sins. Then evil will disappear, and justice will rule for ever; the visions and words of the prophets will come true, and a most holy place will be dedicated.

At the end of the sixty-two weeks, the Chosen Leader will be killed and left with nothing. A foreign ruler and his army will sweep down like a mighty flood, leaving both the city and the temple in ruins, and war and destruction will continue until the end, just as God has decided.

The LORD All-Powerful said: My sword, wake up! Attack my shepherd and friend. Strike down the shepherd! Scatter the little sheep, and I will destroy them.

But then, how could the words of the Scriptures come true, which say that this must happen?”

But all this happened, so that what the prophets wrote would come true.” All Jesus' disciples left him and ran away.

He answered, “It is one of you twelve men who is eating from this dish with me.

During the meal Jesus took some bread in his hands. He blessed the bread and broke it. Then he gave it to his disciples and said, “Take this. It is my body.”

Day after day I was with you and taught in the temple, and you didn't arrest me. But what the Scriptures say must come true.”

The Son of Man will die in the way that has been decided for him, but it will be terrible for the one who betrays him!”

Jesus said to them, “While I was still with you, I told you that everything written about me in the Law of Moses, the Books of the Prophets, and in the Psalms had to happen.”

Jesus knew that he had now finished his work. And in order to make the Scriptures come true, he said, “I am thirsty!”

to be an apostle and to serve in place of Judas, who got what he deserved.”

God had already planned and decided that Jesus would be handed over to you. So you took him and had evil men put him to death on a cross.

Here in Jerusalem, Herod and Pontius Pilate got together with the Gentiles and the people of Israel. Then they turned against your holy Servant Jesus, your chosen Messiah.
