Ask God to bless anyone who curses you, and pray for everyone who is cruel to you.

“Please pray to the LORD your God and ask him to heal my hand,” Jeroboam begged. The prophet prayed, and Jeroboam's hand was healed.

The LORD God said, “The cruel Philistines have taken revenge on their enemies over and over and have tried to destroy them.

But in my fierce anger, I will turn against those nations, and especially the Edomites, because they laughed at you the loudest and took over your pasture lands.

But I tell you to love your enemies and pray for anyone who ill-treats you.

Jesus said, “Father, forgive these people! They don't know what they're doing.” While the crowd stood there watching Jesus, the soldiers gambled for his clothes. The leaders insulted him by saying, “He saved others. Now he should save himself, if he really is God's chosen Messiah!”

This is what I say to all who will listen to me: Love your enemies, and be good to everyone who hates you.

But love your enemies and be good to them. Lend without expecting to be paid back. Then you will get a great reward, and you will be the true children of God in heaven. He is good even to people who are unthankful and cruel.

Finally, some Gentiles and Jews, together with their leaders, decided to make trouble for Paul and Barnabas and to stone them to death.

He knelt down and shouted, “Lord, don't blame them for what they have done.” Then he died.

Ask God to bless everyone who ill-treats you. Ask him to bless them and not to curse them.

We work hard with our own hands, and when people abuse us, we wish them well. When we suffer, we are patient.

Don't be hateful and insult people just because they are hateful and insult you. Instead, treat everyone with kindness. You are God's chosen ones, and he will bless you. The Scriptures say,
