I will tell the promise that the LORD made to me: “You are my son, because today I have become your father.

Here is my servant! I have made him strong. He is my chosen one; I am pleased with him. I have given him my Spirit, and he will bring justice to the nations.

Jesus left Galilee and went to the River Jordan to be baptized by John.

So Jesus was baptized. And as soon as he came out of the water, the sky opened, and he saw the Spirit of God coming down on him like a dove.

About that time Jesus came from Nazareth in Galilee, and John baptized him in the River Jordan.

The shadow of a cloud passed over and covered them. From the cloud a voice said, “This is my Son, and I love him. Listen to what he says!”

“Praise God in heaven! Peace on earth to everyone who pleases God.”

Then Jesus said to them, “What you have just heard me read has come true today.”

I was there and saw the Spirit come down on him like a dove from heaven. And the Spirit stayed on him.

So Father, bring glory to yourself. A voice from heaven then said, “I have already brought glory to myself, and I will do it again!”

The Father who sent me also speaks for me, but you have never heard his voice or seen him face to face.

God gave the Holy Spirit and power to Jesus from Nazareth. He was with Jesus, as he went around doing good and healing everyone who was under the power of the devil.

God rescued us from the dark power of Satan and brought us into the kingdom of his dear Son,

Come to Jesus Christ. He is the living stone that people have rejected, but which God has chosen and highly honoured.
