I can count all my bones, and my enemies just stare and sneer at me.

“We played the flute, but you would not dance! We sang a funeral song, but you would not mourn!”

Many women had come with Jesus from Galilee to be of help to him, and they were there, looking on at a distance.

Some women were looking on from a distance. They had come with Jesus to Jerusalem. But even before this they had been his followers and had helped him while he was in Galilee. Mary Magdalene and Mary the mother of the younger James and of Joseph were two of these women. Salome was also one of them.

Jesus turned to the women and said: Women of Jerusalem, don't cry for me! Cry for yourselves and for your children.

The women who had come with Jesus from Galilee followed Joseph and watched how Jesus' body was placed in the tomb.

and so were some women who had been healed of evil spirits and all sorts of diseases. One of the women was Mary Magdalene, who once had seven demons in her.

Everyone was crying and weeping for the girl. But Jesus said, “The child isn't dead. She is just asleep.”

I tell you for certain that you will cry and be sad, but the world will be happy. You will be sad, but later you will be happy.
