And so the LORD says, “I'm laying a firm foundation for the city of Zion. It's a valuable cornerstone proved to be trustworthy; no one who trusts it will ever be disappointed.
Joshua, I have placed in front of you a stone with seven sides. I will engrave something on that stone, and in a single day I will forgive this guilty country.
Jesus replied, “Surely you know that the Scriptures say, ‘The stone that the builders tossed aside is now the most important stone of all. This is something the Lord has done, and it is amazing to us.’
Jesus was angry as he looked around at the people. Yet he felt sorry for them because they were so stubborn. Then he told the man, “Stretch out your hand.” He did, and his bad hand was healed.
The Lord turned and looked at Peter. And Peter remembered that the Lord had said, “Before a cock crows tomorrow morning, you will say three times that you don't know me.”
Jesus said to them, “While I was still with you, I told you that everything written about me in the Law of Moses, the Books of the Prophets, and in the Psalms had to happen.”
It is just as God says in the Scriptures, “Look! I am placing in Zion a choice and precious cornerstone. No one who has faith in that one will be disappointed.”
