At last, Moses dressed Aaron's sons in their shirts, then tied sashes around them and put special caps on them, just as the LORD had commanded.

Let victory be like robes for the priests; let your faithful people celebrate and shout.

Dress Aaron in the priestly clothes, then use the sacred olive oil to ordain him and dedicate him to me as my priest.

Moses followed the LORD's instructions.

I celebrate and shout because of my LORD God. His saving power and justice are the very clothes I wear. They are more beautiful than the jewellery worn by a bride or a groom.

But they themselves will be priests and servants of the LORD our God. The treasures of the nations will belong to them, and they will be famous.

When the priests are ready to leave the temple, they must go through these rooms before they return to the outer courtyard. They must leave their sacred clothes in these rooms and put on ordinary clothes before going anywhere near other people.

So they dragged the dead men away by their clothes.

And now you are living stones that are being used to build a spiritual house. You are also a group of holy priests, and with the help of Jesus Christ you will offer sacrifices that please God.

But you are God's chosen and special people. You are a group of royal priests and a holy nation. God has brought you out of darkness into his marvellous light. Now you must tell all the wonderful things that he has done. The Scriptures say,

He lets us rule as kings and serve God his Father as priests. To him be glory and power for ever and ever! Amen.

You let them become kings and serve God as priests, and they will rule on earth.”
