The man then said to me: These rooms on the north and south sides of the temple are the sacred rooms where the LORD's priests will eat the most holy offerings. These offerings include the grain sacrifices, the sacrifices for sin, and the sacrifices to make things right.

The rest of this sacrifice is for the priests; it is very holy because it was offered to me.

They may eat the food offerings presented to me,

Change into your everyday clothes, take the ashes outside the camp, and pile them in the special place.

This sacrifice is very holy, and only the priests may have any part of it.

One of the priests will lay these pieces on the altar and send them up in smoke to me.

Suppose meat ready to be sacrificed to God is being carried in the folds of someone's clothing, and the clothing rubs against some bread or stew or wine or olive oil or any other food. Would those foods that were touched then become acceptable for sacrifice? “Of course not,” the priests answered.

Aren't the people of Israel sharing in the worship when they gather around the altar and eat the sacrifices offered there?

Don't you know that people who work in the temple make their living from what is brought to the temple? Don't you know that a person who serves at the altar is given part of what is offered?
