Once more the LORD spoke to Moses: Go back and tell the people that today and tomorrow they must get themselves ready to meet me. They must wash their clothes

After Moses went down the mountain, he gave orders for the people to wash their clothes and make themselves acceptable to worship God.

Then dress Aaron and his sons in these clothes, pour olive oil on their heads, and ordain them as my priests.

When you ordain one of Aaron's sons as my priest, choose a young bull and two rams that have nothing wrong with them.

to say to the community of Israel: I am the LORD your God. I am holy, and you must be holy too!

I am the LORD your God, and I have chosen you alone to offer sacrifices of food to me on the altar. That's why you must keep yourselves holy.

Don't let them become guilty of eating this sacred food. Remember—I am the LORD, the one who makes these offerings holy.

One of the priests will lay these pieces on the altar and send them up in smoke as a food offering for me.

You embarrass me by offering worthless food on my altar. Then you ask, “How have we embarrassed you?” You have done it by saying, “What's so great about the LORD's altar?”

to say to the people of Israel: Offer sacrifices to me at the appointed times of worship, so that I will smell the smoke and be pleased.

So why do you accuse me of a terrible sin for saying that I am the Son of God? After all, it is the Father who prepared me for this work. He is also the one who sent me into the world.

I have given myself completely for their sake, so that they may belong completely to the truth.

But it is much worse to dishonour God's Son and to disgrace the blood of the promise that made us holy. And it is just as bad to insult the Holy Spirit, who shows us mercy.

Jesus is the high priest we need. He is holy and innocent and faultless, and not at all like us sinners. Jesus is honoured above all beings in heaven,
