“No matter how much you pray, I won't listen. You are too violent.

You leaders of Israel should be watchdogs, protecting my people. But you can't see a thing, and you never warn them. Dozing and daydreaming are all you ever do.

You killed innocent people for no reason at all. And even though their blood can be seen on your clothes,

and as soon as I finished, they all crowded around me and started shouting, “Why did you preach that the LORD will destroy this temple, just as he destroyed Shiloh? Why did you say that Jerusalem will be empty and lie in ruins? You ought to be put to death for saying such things in the LORD's name!” Then they had me arrested.

But good men will some day accuse those two of murder and of being unfaithful, because they are certainly guilty.

Cursing, dishonesty, murder, robbery, unfaithfulness— these happen all the time. Violence is everywhere.

The LORD warns everyone who has sinned against him, “I'll strike you blind! Then your blood and your insides will gush out like vomit.

If you touch the body of someone who was killed or who died of old age, or if you touch a human bone or a grave, you will be unclean for seven days.

I, the LORD, live among you people of Israel, so your land must be kept pure. But when a murder takes place, blood pollutes the land, and it becomes unclean. If that happens, the murderer must be put to death, so the land will be clean again. Keep murder out of Israel!

Stay away from those Pharisees! They are like blind people leading other blind people, and all of them will fall into a ditch.”

Their minds are in the dark, and they are stubborn and ignorant and have missed out on the life that comes from God. They no longer have any feelings about what is right,
