The Lord was so furiously angry that he wiped out the whole army of Israel by not supporting them when the enemy attacked. He was like a raging fire that swallowed up the descendants of Jacob.

The people of Judah and Israel have rejected me. They have offered sacrifices to foreign gods and have worshipped their own idols. I can't stand it any longer. I am furious.

and so, in my sorrow I dress in sackcloth and sit in the dust.

I will give mighty power to the kingdom of David. Each one of my chosen kings will shine like a lamp

Why don't you punish them? Why are you holding back?

Our Lord, you will destroy the power of evil people, but you will give strength to those who are good.

Stop boasting! Stop telling me how great you are.”

Our LORD, will you keep on being angry? Will your angry feelings keep flaming up like fire?

He will always be able to depend on my love, and I will make him strong with my own power.

How much longer, LORD? Will you hide for ever? How long will your anger keep burning like fire?

Your strongest leaders will be like dry wood set on fire by their idols. No one will be able to help, as they all go up in flames.

He was furious with them and punished their nation with the fires of war. Still they paid no attention. They didn't even care when they were surrounded and scorched by flames.

and I will punish you as you deserve. I'll set your palace on fire, and everything around you will go up in smoke.

With all your hearts, keep the agreement I made with you. But if you are stubborn and keep on sinning, my anger will burn like a fire that cannot be put out.

My decision is final— your army will be crushed, and your power broken.

And now, I, the LORD All-Powerful, will flood Judah with my fiery anger until nothing is left—no people or animals, no trees or crops.

From heaven you sent a fire that burnt in my bones; you set a trap for my feet and made me turn back. All day long you leave me in shock from constant pain.

The LORD was so fiercely angry that he burnt the city of Zion to the ground.

That wall is the city of Jerusalem. And I, the LORD God, am so angry that I will send strong winds, rainstorms, and hailstones to destroy it.

A signal has been blown on the trumpet, and weapons are prepared for battle. But no one goes to war, because in my anger I will strike down everyone in Israel.

Who can stand the heat of his furious anger? It flashes out like fire and shatters stones.

The day of judgment is certain to come. And it will be like a red-hot furnace with flames that burn up proud and sinful people, as though they were straw. Not a branch or a root will be left. I, the LORD All-Powerful, have spoken!

Our God has given us a mighty Saviour from the family of David his servant.

His threshing fork is in his hand, and he is ready to separate the wheat from the husks. He will store the wheat in his barn and burn the husks with a fire that never goes out.”

“My people, I will breathe out fire that sends you down to the world of the dead. It will scorch your farmlands and burn deep down under the mountains.
