The LORD sent King Nebuchadnezzar of Babylonia to attack Jerusalem. Nebuchadnezzar killed the young men who were in the temple, and he showed no mercy to anyone, whether man or woman, young or old. God let him kill everyone in the city.

I hear the crowds whisper, “Everyone is afraid!” They are plotting and scheming to murder me.

Morning, noon, and night an overwhelming flood will wash you away. The terrible things that happen will teach you this lesson:

Here is what I've decided to do. I will bring suffering on the people of Judah and Jerusalem, and no one will escape. They will beg me to help, but I won't listen to their prayers.

Why do you now insist on heading for another disaster? A disaster that will destroy not only you, but also your children and babies.

I can see the battle now— you are defeated and running away, never once looking back. Terror is all around.

You'll have only a few children, your crops will be small, and your herds of cattle and flocks of sheep and goats won't produce many young.
