Don't let their evil deeds escape your sight. Punish them as much as you have punished me because of my sins. I never stop groaning— I've lost all hope!

Please hurry, LORD, and answer my prayer. I feel hopeless. Don't turn away and leave me here to die.

Why should nations ask us, “Where is your God?” Let us and the other nations see you take revenge for your servants who died a violent death.

All people will be terrified. Hands will grow limp; courage will melt away. Everyone will tremble with pain like a woman giving birth; they will stare at each other with horror on their faces.

Our enemies refuse to admit that you are God or to worship you. They have wiped out our people and left our nation lying in ruins. So get angry and sweep them away!

You know they plan to kill me. So get angry and punish them! Don't ever forgive their terrible crimes.

But if your enemies try to rob or destroy you, I will rob and destroy them, and they will be led as captives to foreign lands.

The people of Babylonia harmed some of us and killed others. Now, LORD, make them pay!”

I'm burdened with sorrow and feel like giving up.

From heaven you sent a fire that burnt in my bones; you set a trap for my feet and made me turn back. All day long you leave me in shock from constant pain.

We feel sick all over and can't even see straight;

If this can happen when the wood is green, what do you think will happen when it is dry?

That's why you should not be discouraged when I suffer for you. After all, it will bring honour to you.

They shouted, “Master, you are holy and faithful! How long will it be before you judge and punish the people of this earth who killed us?”
