The people of the Levi tribe had a total of forty-eight towns within Israel, and they had pastures around each one of their towns.
Now I place a curse on you because of your fierce anger. Your descendants will be scattered among the tribes of Israel.
So the people of Israel gave the Levites towns to live in and the pasture land around them.
You teach God's laws to Israel, and at the place of worship you offer sacrifices and burn incense.
Since the LORD had said this, the leaders of the other Israelite tribes agreed to give some of the towns and pastures from their tribal lands to Levi.
