My servant Moses is dead. Now you must lead Israel across the River Jordan into the land I'm giving to all of you.

I will give you and them the land in which you are now a foreigner. I will give the whole land of Canaan to your family for ever, and I will be their God.

You brought them into the land that you had promised their ancestors, and you blessed their nation with people who outnumbered the stars in the sky.

Then the LORD asked, “What do you think of my servant Job? No one on earth is like him—he is a truly good person, who respects me and refuses to do evil.”

Here is my servant! I have made him strong. He is my chosen one; I am pleased with him. I have given him my Spirit, and he will bring justice to the nations.

But my servant Moses is the leader of my people.

Joshua will lead Israel across the Jordan to take the land, so help him be strong and brave and tell him what he must do.”

Then Moses called Joshua up in front of the crowd and said: Joshua, be brave and strong as you lead these people into their land. The LORD made a promise long ago to Israel's ancestors that this land would some day belong to Israel. That time has now come, and you must divide up the land among the people.

And so, Moses the LORD's servant died there in Moab, just as the LORD had said.

Moses, the LORD's servant, was dead. So the LORD spoke to Joshua son of Nun, who had been the assistant of Moses. The LORD said:

to go through the camp and tell everyone: In a few days we will cross the River Jordan to take the land that the LORD our God is giving us. So prepare as much food as you'll need for the march into the land.
