Death, like ocean waves, surrounded me, and I was almost swallowed by its flooding waters.

I love you, LORD! You answered my prayers.

You paid attention to me, and so I will pray to you as long as I live.

When I am in trouble, I pray,

Your vicious waves have swept over me like an angry ocean or a roaring waterfall.

Water covered my head— I thought I was gone.

From the bottom of the pit, I prayed to you, LORD.
