From inside the fish, Jonah prayed to the LORD his God:
When you are in trouble, call out to me. I will answer and be there to protect and honour you.
God may kill me, but still I will trust him and offer my defence.
When you punished our people, they turned and prayed to you, our LORD.
Pray to me in time of trouble. I will rescue you, and you will honour me.
If you are having trouble, you should pray. And if you are feeling good, you should sing praises.
Then I'll return to my temple until they confess their guilt and worship me, until they are desperate and beg for my help.
You can drink water from the brook, and eat the food I've told the ravens to bring you.”
