At once Satan took control of Judas. Jesus said, “Judas, go quickly and do what you have to do.”

Even before the evening meal started, the devil had made Judas, the son of Simon Iscariot, decide to betray Jesus.

While I was with them, I kept them safe by the power you have given me. I guarded them, and not one of them was lost, except the one who had to be lost. This happened so that what the Scriptures say would come true.

I am not talking about all of you. I know the ones I have chosen. But what the Scriptures say must come true. And they say, “The man who ate with me has turned against me!”

But some of you refuse to have faith in me.” Jesus said this, because from the beginning he knew who would have faith in him. He also knew which one would betray him.

Anyone who keeps on sinning belongs to the devil. He has sinned from the beginning, but the Son of God came to destroy all that he has done.

Women must also be serious. They must not gossip or be heavy drinkers, and they must be faithful in everything they do.

If you belonged to the world, its people would love you. But you don't belong to the world. I have chosen you to leave the world behind, and that is why its people hate you.

You did not choose me. I chose you and sent you out to produce fruit, the kind of fruit that will last. Then my Father will give you whatever you ask for in my name.

After Jesus had said these things, he was deeply troubled and told his disciples, “I tell you for certain that one of you will betray me.”

Your father is the devil, and you do exactly what he wants. He has always been a murderer and a liar. There is nothing truthful about him. He speaks on his own, and everything he says is a lie. Not only is he a liar himself, but he is also the father of all lies.

Tell the older women to behave as those who love the Lord should. They must not gossip about others or be slaves of wine. They must teach what is proper,

and said, “You son of the devil! You are a liar, a criminal, and an enemy of everything that is right. When will you stop speaking against the true ways of the Lord?

Jesus and his disciples had also been invited and were there.

Jesus then asked his twelve disciples if they were going to leave him.

Jesus was talking about Judas, the son of Simon Iscariot. He would later betray Jesus, even though he was one of the twelve disciples.

Although Thomas the Twin was one of the twelve disciples, he wasn't with the others when Jesus appeared to them.
