I cannot do anything on my own. The Father sent me, and he is the one who told me how to judge. I judge with fairness, because I obey him, and I don't just try to please myself.

Jesus said: My food is to do what God wants! He is the one who sent me, and I must finish the work that he gave me to do.

Jesus told the people: I tell you for certain that the Son cannot do anything on his own. He can do only what he sees the Father doing, and he does exactly what he sees the Father do.

I didn't come from heaven to do what I want! I came to do what the Father wants me to do. He sent me,

Jesus went on to say, “When you have lifted up the Son of Man, you will know who I am. You will also know that I don't do anything on my own. I say only what my Father taught me.

Jesus answered: If God were your Father, you would love me, because I came from God and only from him. He sent me. I did not come on my own.

I don't want honour for myself. But there is one who wants me to be honoured, and he is also the one who judges.

Even Christ did not try to please himself. But as the Scriptures say, “The people who insulted you also insulted me.”

We know that God is right to judge everyone who behaves in this way.

But you are stubborn and refuse to turn to God. So you are making things even worse for yourselves on that day when he will show how angry he is and will judge the world with fairness.
