At that time the chief priests and the nation's leaders were meeting at the home of Caiaphas the high priest.

But the Pharisees said to each other, “There is nothing that can be done! Everyone in the world is following Jesus.”

The chief priests and the Pharisees told the people to let them know if any of them saw Jesus. That is how they hoped to arrest him.

This was Jesus' first miracle, and he did it in the village of Cana in Galilee. There Jesus showed his glory, and his disciples put their faith in him.

But I promise you that if you are angry with someone, you will have to stand trial. If you call someone a fool, you will be taken to court. And if you say that someone is worthless, you will be in danger of the fires of hell.

The captain of the temple police and the chief priests listened to their report, but they did not know what to think about it.

So they went into the temple before sunrise and started teaching. The high priest and his men called together their council, which included all Israel's leaders. Then they ordered the apostles to be brought to them from the jail.

The chief priests and the teachers of the Law of Moses were looking for a way to get rid of Jesus, because they were afraid of what the people might do.

It was now two days before Passover and the Festival of Thin Bread. The chief priests and the teachers of the Law of Moses were secretly planning to have Jesus arrested and put to death.

A large crowd had seen him perform miracles to heal the sick, and those people went with him.

When the Pharisees heard the crowd arguing about Jesus, they got together with the chief priests and sent some temple police to arrest him.

When the temple police returned to the chief priests and Pharisees, they were asked, “Why didn't you bring Jesus here?”
