I am the LORD All-Powerful, the mighty ruler of Israel, and I make you a promise: you are now my enemy, and I will show my anger by taking revenge on you.

But what will you do when you are fiercely attacked and punished by foreigners? Where will you run for help? Where will you hide your valuables?

You have chosen to worship idols made of stone; you have given them offerings of wine and grain. Should I be pleased?

Every field I see lies barren, and no one cares.

How long will the ground be dry and the pasture lands parched? The birds and animals are dead and gone. And all this happened because the people are so sinful. They even boast, “God can't see the sins we commit.”

You need to be punished, and so I will take revenge.

Why shouldn't I punish the people of Judah?

And so your land is a desert. Every living creature is dying— people and wild animals, birds and fish.

I cry out to you, LORD. Grasslands and forests are eaten by the scorching heat.

Listen, nation of Israel, to my mournful message:

you, dearest Israel, have fallen, never to rise again— you lie deserted in your own land, with no one to help you up.
