The LORD All-Powerful said, “Send for the women who are paid to weep at funerals, especially the women who can cry the loudest.”

Jeremiah the prophet wrote a funeral song in honour of Josiah. And since then, anyone in Judah who mourns the death of Josiah sings that song. It is included in the collection of funeral songs.

Let those with magic powers place a curse on that day.

You will be afraid to climb up a hill or walk down a road. Your hair will turn as white as almond blossoms. You will feel lifeless and drag along like an old grasshopper. We each go to our eternal home, and the streets are filled with those who mourn.

Shave your head bald and throw away the hair. Sing a funeral song on top of a barren hill. You people have made me angry, and I have abandoned you.

When that happens, this sorrowful song will be sung about you: “Ruined! Completely ruined! The LORD has taken our land and given it to traitors.”

When Jesus went into the home of the official and saw the musicians and the crowd of mourners,

They went home with Jairus and saw the people crying and making a lot of noise.
