My people, I am on your side, and I will take revenge on Babylon. I will cut off its water supply, and its stream will dry up.

If you start doing wrong, the LORD will turn rivers into deserts,

Our LORD, I know that you defend the homeless and see that the poor are given justice.

The LORD is their defender, and what you do to them, he will do to you.

God All-Powerful is there to defend them against you.

The River Nile will dry up and become parched land.

I, the LORD, will rescue you! I am Israel's holy God, and this is my promise: For your sake, I will send an army against Babylon to drag its people away, crying as they go.

I will send my own people to take revenge on the Edomites by making them feel my fierce anger. And when I punish them, they will know that I am the LORD God.”

No matter how much you prosper more than the other tribes, I, the LORD, will wipe you out, just as a scorching desert wind dries up streams of water. I will take away your precious treasures.

Dear friends, don't try to get even. Let God take revenge. In the Scriptures the Lord says, “I am the one to take revenge and pay them back.”

Soon our enemies will get what they deserve— suddenly they will slip, and total disaster will quickly follow.

Tell the heavens to celebrate and all gods to bow down to the LORD, because he will take revenge on those hateful enemies who killed his people. He will forgive the sins of Israel and purify their land.

The sixth angel emptied his bowl on the great River Euphrates, and it completely dried up to make a road for the kings from the east.
