You destroyed the nations and seem strong as a mountain, but I am your enemy. I might even grab you and roll you off a cliff. When I have finished, you'll only be a pile of scorched bricks.

I am surrounded by trouble, but you protect me against my angry enemies. With your own powerful arm you keep me safe.

From high on a barren hill give a signal, shout the orders, and point the way to enter the gates of Babylon's proud rulers.

When that time is up, I will punish the king of Babylonia and his people for everything they have done wrong, and I will turn that country into a wasteland for ever.

and now I will let you be attacked by nations from the north, and especially by my servant, King Nebuchadnezzar of Babylonia. You and other nearby nations will be destroyed and left in ruins for ever. Everyone who sees what has happened will be shocked, but they will still make fun of you.

I've brought out my weapons, and with them I will put a curse on Babylonia.

Babylon, you should be named, “The Proud One”. But the time has come when I, the LORD All-Powerful, will punish you.

Although Babylon's walls reach to the sky, the army I send will destroy that city. I, the LORD, have spoken.

The thick walls of that city will be torn down, and its huge gates burnt. Everything that nation worked so hard to gain will go up in smoke.

Babylon was my golden cup, filled with the wine of my anger. The nations of the world got drunk on this wine and went insane.

Zerubbabel, that mountain in front of you will be levelled to the ground. Then you will bring out the temple's most important stone and shout, “God has been very kind.”

The day of the Lord's return will surprise us like a thief. The heavens will disappear with a loud noise, and the heat will melt the whole universe. Then the earth and everything on it will be seen for what they are.

When the second angel blew his trumpet, something like a great fiery mountain was thrown into the sea. A third of the sea turned to blood,
