When you hear the thunder of horses and chariots, your courage will vanish, and parents will abandon their own children.

Their arrows are sharp, and their bows are ready. The hoofs of their horses are hard as flint; the wheels of their war chariots turn as fast as a whirlwind.

Go ahead, Egypt. Tell your chariots and cavalry to attack and fight hard. Order your troops to march out, with Ethiopians and Libyans carrying shields, and the Lydians armed with bows and arrows.

Bows and arrows and swords are in their hands. The soldiers are cruel and show no pity. The hoofbeats of their horses echo like ocean waves crashing against the shore. The army has lined up for battle and is coming to attack you, people of Babylonia!

Our enemies have reached the town of Dan in the north, and the snorting of their horses makes us tremble with fear. The enemy will destroy Jerusalem and our entire nation. No one will survive.”

Their large armies will come from the north with chariots and wagons carrying weapons. They will wear shields and helmets and will surround you, and I will let them judge and sentence you according to their own laws.

Nineveh is like a pond with leaking water. Shouts of “Stop! Don't go!” can be heard everywhere. But everyone is leaving.

On their chests they wore armour made of iron. Their wings roared like an army of horse-drawn chariots rushing into battle.

Sisera's horses galloped off, their hoofs thundering in retreat.
