I, the LORD, was angry with the people of Jerusalem and punished them. And if you go to Egypt, I will be angry and punish you the same way. You will never again see your homeland. People will be horrified at what I do to you, and they will use the name of your city as a curse word.

The people of Judah and Israel have rejected me. They have offered sacrifices to foreign gods and have worshipped their own idols. I can't stand it any longer. I am furious.

You will be disappointed, completely disgraced for trusting Egypt.

I, the LORD God, promise to see that you are killed and that my chosen servants use your names as curse words. But I will give new names to my servants.

Your land will be ruined, and every passer-by will look at it with horror and make insulting remarks.

You will never be free from your shame and disgrace.

I will punish them with a terrible disaster, and everyone on earth will tremble when they hear about it. I will force the people of Judah to go to foreign countries, where they will be cursed and insulted.

and now I will let you be attacked by nations from the north, and especially by my servant, King Nebuchadnezzar of Babylonia. You and other nearby nations will be destroyed and left in ruins for ever. Everyone who sees what has happened will be shocked, but they will still make fun of you.

I will destroy this temple, just as I destroyed the town of Shiloh. Then everyone on earth will use the name “Jerusalem” as a curse word.

There were only a few of you left in Judah, and you decided to go to Egypt. But you will die such horrible deaths in war or from starvation, that people of other countries will use the name of Judah as a curse word.

And when he could no longer put up with your disgusting sins, he placed a curse on your land and turned it into a desert, as it is today.

Finally, my anger struck like a raging flood, and today Jerusalem and the towns of Judah are nothing but empty ruins.

You have made me angry by worshipping idols and burning incense to other gods after you came here to Egypt. You will die such a disgusting death, that other nations will use the name of Judah as a curse word.

Your anger against Judah flames up inside me, and I can't hold it in much longer. Don't hold back my anger! Let it sweep away everyone— the children at play and all adults, young and old alike.

And now, I, the LORD All-Powerful, will flood Judah with my fiery anger until nothing is left—no people or animals, no trees or crops.

He attacked like an enemy with a bow and arrows, killing our loved ones. He has burnt to the ground the homes on Mount Zion.

He shattered his temple like a hut in a garden; he completely wiped out his meeting place, and did away with festivals and Sabbaths in the city of Zion. In his fierce anger he rejected our king and priests.

The LORD was so fiercely angry that he burnt the city of Zion to the ground.

and my power, when I gather you from the places where you are scattered

like silver in a furnace. Then they will know that I, the LORD, have punished them in my anger.

Everyone in Israel has stubbornly refused to obey your laws, and so those curses written by your servant Moses have fallen upon us.

For one week this foreigner will make a firm agreement with many people, and halfway through this week, he will end all sacrifices and offerings. Then the “Horrible Thing” that causes destruction will be put there. And it will stay there until the time God has decided to destroy this one who destroys.

and refuse to obey. They are more useless than a crooked arrow. Their leaders will die in war for saying foolish things. Egyptians will laugh at them.

Who can stand the heat of his furious anger? It flashes out like fire and shatters stones.

People of Judah and Israel, you have been a curse to the nations, but I will save you and make you a blessing to them. So don't be afraid or lose courage.

If the woman has been unfaithful, the water will immediately make her unable to have children, and she will be a curse among her people.

You will have to drink the wine that God gives to everyone who makes him angry. You will feel his mighty anger, and you will be tortured with fire and burning sulphur, while the holy angels and the Lamb look on.
