God was so angry and furious that he went into a rage and caused them great trouble by sending swarms of destroying angels.

How will you escape being captured or killed? The Lord is still angry, and he isn't through with you yet!

Cry and weep! The day is coming when the mighty LORD will bring destruction.

When all this happened, the LORD All-Powerful told you to weep and mourn, to shave your heads, and wear sackcloth.

Shake and shudder, you women without a care! Strip off your clothes— put on sackcloth.

You are the LORD's people, but you made him terribly angry, and he struck you with his mighty arm. Mountains shook, and dead bodies covered the streets like rubbish. The LORD is still angry, and he is ready to strike you again.

He sent the Arameans from the east and the Philistines from the west, and they swallowed up Israel. But even this did not stop him from being angry, so he kept on punishing them.

The Lord was angry with his people and kept punishing them, because they had turned against him. They were evil and spoke foolishly. That's why he did not have pity on their young people or on their widows and orphans.

The tribes of Ephraim and Manasseh turned against each other, then joined forces to attack Judah. But the LORD was still angry and ready to punish the nation even more.

The LORD's people are his flock, and you leaders were the shepherds. But now it's your turn to be butchered like sheep. You'll shatter like fine pottery dropped on the floor. So roll on the ground, crying and mourning.

I won't calm down until I have finished what I have decided to do. Some day, you will understand what I mean.

They will answer, “Moab has been defeated! Weep with us in shame. Tell everyone at the River Arnon that Moab is destroyed.”

and attacks without warning. So mourn, my people, as though your only child had died. Wear clothes made of sackcloth and roll in the ash heap.”

No passer-by even cares. Why doesn't someone notice my terrible sufferings? You were fiercely angry, LORD, and you punished me worst of all.

Groan in sorrow, Ezekiel; the sword is drawn against my people and their leaders. They will die! So give up all hope.

Ezekiel, son of man, tell the people of Egypt that I am saying: Cry out in despair,

Mourn, you priests who serve at the altar of my God. Spend your days and nights wearing sackcloth. Offerings of grain and wine are no longer brought to the LORD's temple.

Your festivals and joyful singing will turn into sorrow. You will wear sackcloth and shave your heads, as you would at the death of your only son. It will be a horrible day.

Judah, shave your head as bald as a vulture and start mourning. Your precious children will be dragged off to a foreign country.

So he said to Moses, “Take the Israelite leaders who are responsible for this and have them killed in front of my sacred tent where everyone can see. Perhaps then I will stop being angry with the Israelites.”
