Your vicious waves have swept over me like an angry ocean or a roaring waterfall.

We will always praise your glorious name. Let your glory be seen everywhere on earth. Amen and amen.

I am the LORD God, and I promise to punish Jerusalem severely. I will send war, starvation, wild animals, and deadly disease to slaughter its people and livestock.

We are in for trouble! Soon the LORD All-Powerful will bring disaster.

Then, if you still refuse to obey me, I will punish you seven times for each of your sins,

If you keep rebelling against me, I'll punish you seven times worse, just as your sins deserve!

I'll remain your enemy and punish you even worse.

I'll really get furious and punish you terribly for your sins!

The tents of desert tribes in Cushan and Midian were ripped apart.

“Get away from the rest of the Israelites so I can kill them at once!”

“Stand back! I am going to wipe out these Israelites once and for all.” They immediately bowed down and prayed.

Don't be afraid of people. They can kill you, but they cannot harm your soul. Instead, you should fear God who can destroy both your body and your soul in hell.

Their punishment will be eternal destruction, and they will be kept far from the presence of our Lord and his glorious strength.
