Some of you had foolishly committed a lot of sins and were in terrible pain.

“Now you will eat the fruit of what you have done, until you are stuffed full with your own schemes.

Sinners are trapped and caught by their own evil deeds.

The LORD says, “Children, I didn't divorce your mother or sell you to pay debts; I divorced her and sold you because of your sins.

And everyone who listens to them will be killed, just as they deserve. Their dead bodies will be thrown out into the streets of Jerusalem, because their families will also be dead, and no one will be left to bury them.

It's all your own fault! You stopped following me, the LORD your God,

Your own sins will punish you, because it was a bitter mistake for you to reject me without fear of punishment. I, the LORD All-Powerful, have spoken.

Then the leaders continued: No one put Micah to death for saying that. Instead, King Hezekiah prayed to the LORD with fear and trembling and asked him to have mercy. Then the LORD decided not to destroy Jerusalem, even though he had already said he would. People of Judah, if Jeremiah is killed, we will bring a terrible disaster on ourselves.

And the people who survive will ask, “Why did the LORD our God do such terrible things to us?” Then tell them: I am the LORD, but you abandoned me and worshipped other gods in your own land. Now you will be slaves in a foreign country.

That's why I cannot bless you!

Their lives were wicked and corrupt, and they deserved to be punished.

No one realizes that I have seen their sins surround them like a flood.
