God rescues the needy from the words of the wicked and the fist of the mighty.

The poor are filled with hope, and injustice is silenced.

God will protect you from harm, no matter how often trouble may strike.

I promise to be with you and keep you safe, so don't be afraid.”

Then the LORD replied, “I promise to protect you, and when disaster comes, even your enemies will beg you for help.”

because I am making you strong, like a bronze wall. They are evil and violent, but when they attack, I will be there to rescue you. I, the LORD, have spoken.

But Zedekiah, his officials, and everyone else in Judah ignored everything the LORD had told me.

I was led away in chains along with the people of Judah and Jerusalem who were being taken to Babylonia. Nebuzaradan was the officer in charge of the guard, and when we stopped at Ramah, the LORD made him set me free.

Today I am taking the chains off your wrists and setting you free! If you want to, you can come with me to Babylonia, and I will see that you are taken care of. Or if you decide to stay here, you can go wherever you wish.

Jerusalem was captured during Nebuchadnezzar's nineteenth year as king of Babylonia. About a month later, Nebuchadnezzar's officer in charge of the guards arrived in Jerusalem. His name was Nebuzaradan,

He then ordered the army officer to keep Paul under guard, but not to lock him up or to stop his friends from helping him.
