I am furious! And like a violent storm I will strike those who do wrong.

The LORD All-Powerful says: You can see disaster spreading from far across the earth, from nation to nation like a horrible storm.

Now I will send fire to destroy the walls and fortresses of Rabbah. Enemies will shout and attack like a whirlwind.

This is a message about a desert beside the sea: Enemies from a hostile nation attack like a whirlwind from the Southern Desert.

Those crooks will disappear when a storm strikes, but God will keep safe all who obey him.

I, the LORD, am sending a wind to destroy the people of Babylonia and Babylon, its capital.

I saw a storm blowing in from the north. Lightning flashed from a huge cloud and lit up the whole sky with a dazzling brightness. The fiery centre of the cloud was as shiny as polished metal,

That's why I came with a whirlwind and scattered them among foreign nations, leaving their lovely country empty of people and in ruins.

My voice will be heard everywhere on earth, accusing nations of their crimes and sentencing the guilty to death.

I won't calm down until I have finished what I have decided to do. Some day, you will understand what I mean.

That wall is the city of Jerusalem. And I, the LORD God, am so angry that I will send strong winds, rainstorms, and hailstones to destroy it.
