When there had been no rain for a long time, the LORD told me to say to the people:
It will turn into a desert, neither pruned nor hoed; it will be covered with thorns and briars. I will command the clouds not to send rain.
They will be like trees growing beside a stream— trees with roots that reach down to the water, and with leaves that are always green. They bear fruit every year and are never worried by a lack of rain.
So I, the LORD, refused to let the spring rains fall. But just like a prostitute, you still have no shame for what you have done.
That's why I cannot bless you!
