The nation's leaders and their families settled in Jerusalem. But there was room for only one out of every ten of the remaining families, and so they asked God to show them who would live there.

Altogether, two hundred and eighty-four Levites settled in the holy city.

The LORD God is wonderful! He deserves all praise in the city where he lives. His holy mountain,

Zion, you are the city of God, and wonderful things are told about you.

A time is coming when the survivors from Israel and Judah will completely depend on the holy LORD of Israel, instead of the nation that defeated them.

I am the LORD All-Powerful, the holy God of Israel. I am their Saviour.

I spread out the heavens and laid foundations for the earth. But you have forgotten me, your LORD and Creator. All day long you were afraid of those who were angry and hoped to abuse you. Where are they now?

I will help them because I am your God, the LORD All-Powerful, who makes the ocean roar.

Jerusalem, wake up! Stand up and be strong. Holy city of Zion, dress in your best clothes. Those foreigners who ruined your sacred city won't bother you again.

But you, Israel's God, created all things, and you chose Israel to be your very own. Your name is the LORD All-Powerful.

“King Nebuchadnezzar of Babylonia has attacked Judah. Please ask the LORD to work miracles for our people, as he has done in the past, so that Nebuchadnezzar will leave us alone.”

Keep these promises! But let me tell you what will happen. As surely as I am the LORD God, I swear that I will never again accept any promises you make in my name.

God has decided that for seventy weeks, your people and your holy city must suffer as the price of their sins. Then evil will disappear, and justice will rule for ever; the visions and words of the prophets will come true, and a most holy place will be dedicated.

You leaders accept bribes for dishonest decisions. You priests and prophets teach and preach, but only for money. Then you say, “The LORD is on our side. No harm will come to us.”

Then after Jesus had risen to life, they came out of their graves and went into the holy city, where they were seen by many people.

Next, the devil took Jesus to the holy city and made him stand on the highest part of the temple.

Some of you call yourselves Jews. You trust in the Law and take pride in God.

But don't measure the courtyard outside the temple building. Leave it out. It has been given to those people who don't know God, and they will trample all over the holy city for forty-two months.

Then I saw New Jerusalem, that holy city, coming down from God in heaven. It was like a bride dressed in her wedding gown and ready to meet her husband.

If you take anything away from these prophecies, God will not let you have part in the life-giving tree and in the holy city described in this book.

Micah said, “I have a Levite as my own priest. Now I know that the LORD will be kind to me.”
