Future generations must also praise the LORD, so write this for them:

“From his holy temple, the LORD looked down at the earth.

The LORD has chosen everyone who is faithful to be his very own, and he answers my prayers.

Then we, your people, will always thank you. We are like sheep with you as our shepherd, and all generations will hear us praise you.

The LORD has a reason for everything he does, and he lets evil people live only to be punished.

Let them announce his praises everywhere.

Descendants of Jacob, I, the LORD, created you and formed your nation. Israel, don't be afraid. I have rescued you. I have called you by name; now you belong to me.

But the LORD God keeps me from being disgraced. So I refuse to give up, because I know God will never let me down.

Your people will live right and always own the land; they are the trees I planted to bring praise to me.

When that happens, all nations on earth will see the good things I have done for Jerusalem, and how I have given it complete peace. The nations will celebrate and praise and honour me, but they will also tremble with fear.

Then the LORD All-Powerful said: You people are precious to me, and when I come to bring justice, I will protect you, just as parents protect an obedient child.

When you eat or drink or do anything else, always do it to honour God.

Everything was created by him, everything in heaven and on earth, everything seen and unseen, including all forces and powers, and all rulers and authorities. All things were created by God's Son, and everything was made for him.

He gave himself to rescue us from everything that is evil and to make our hearts pure. He wanted us to be his own people and to be eager to do right.

Our sacrifice is to keep offering praise to God in the name of Jesus.

But you are God's chosen and special people. You are a group of royal priests and a holy nation. God has brought you out of darkness into his marvellous light. Now you must tell all the wonderful things that he has done. The Scriptures say,
