Would he overwhelm me with his greatness? No! He would listen

because he knows we are made of dust.

The LORD won't always be angry and point out our sins;

When you are angry, LORD, please don't punish me or even correct me.

Don't punish me, LORD, or even correct me when you are angry!

Even the most angry people will praise you when you are furious.

Yet God was kind. He kept forgiving their sins and didn't destroy them. He often became angry, but never lost his temper.

Why be punished more? Why not give up your sin? Your head is badly bruised, and you are weak all over.

The Lord will do what he has planned against Jerusalem and Mount Zion. Then he will punish the proud and boastful king of Assyria,

The LORD says, “Children, I didn't divorce your mother or sell you to pay debts; I divorced her and sold you because of your sins.

I rejected you for a while, but with love and tenderness I will embrace you again.

My people, I won't stay angry and keep on accusing you. After all, I am your Creator. I don't want you to give up in complete despair.

You help all who gladly obey and do what you want, but sin makes you angry. Only by your help can we ever be saved.

Correct me, as I deserve, but not in your anger, or I will be dead.

When disaster comes, the LORD will tell you people of Jerusalem, “I am sending a storm from the desert— not a welcome breeze. And it will sweep you away as punishment for your sins.

The LORD said: I have made my decision, and I won't change my mind. This land will be destroyed, although not completely. The sky will turn dark, and the earth will mourn.

So don't be afraid, even though now you deserve to be punished and have been scattered among other nations. But when I destroy them, I will protect you. I, the LORD, have spoken.

The Lord won't always reject us!

He causes a lot of suffering, but he also has pity because of his great love.

But in anger, I pulled her up by the roots and threw her to the ground, where the scorching desert wind dried out her fruit. Her strong branches wilted and burnt up.

No matter how much you prosper more than the other tribes, I, the LORD, will wipe you out, just as a scorching desert wind dries up streams of water. I will take away your precious treasures.

Israel, listen as the LORD accuses everyone in the land! No one is faithful or loyal or truly cares about God.

You are tempted in the same way that everyone else is tempted. But God can be trusted not to let you be tempted too much, and he will show you how to escape from your temptations.

On that day you will be glad, even if you have to go through many hard trials for a while.
