The time is coming when the people of Judah will sing this song: “Our city is protected. The LORD is our fortress, and he gives us victory.

They praised the LORD and gave thanks as they took turns singing: “The LORD is good! His faithful love for Israel will last for ever.” Everyone started shouting and praising the LORD because work on the foundation of the temple had begun.

I will praise you, LORD, for showing great kindness when I was like a city under attack.

You, LORD, are above all others, and you live in the heavens. You have brought justice and fairness to Jerusalem;

you are the foundation on which we stand today. You always save us and give true wisdom and knowledge. Nothing means more to us than obeying you.

The time is coming when the LORD will make his land fruitful and glorious again, and the people of Israel who survive will take great pride in what the land produces.

I will sing a song about my friend's vineyard that was on the side of a fertile hill.

Then I will set up monuments in my temple with your names written on them. This will be much better than having children, because these monuments will stand there for ever.

Violence, destruction, and ruin will never again be heard of within your borders. “Victory” will be the name you give to your walls; “Praise” will be the name you give to your gates.

People of Jerusalem, open your gates! Repair the road to the city and clear it of stones; raise a banner to help the nations find their way.

Here is what the LORD has said for all the earth to hear: “Soon I will come to save the city of Zion, and to reward you.

happy voices and the sounds of parties and wedding celebrations. And when people come to my temple to offer sacrifices to thank me, you will hear them say: “We praise you, LORD All-Powerful! You are good to us, and your love never fails.” The land will once again be productive.

The first thing I saw was an outer wall that completely surrounded the temple area. The man took his measuring stick, which was three metres long, and measured the wall; it was three metres high and three metres thick.

The LORD himself has promised to be a protective wall of fire surrounding Jerusalem, and he will be its shining glory in the heart of the city.”

And so, he will put you in the power of your slaves, and they will raid and rob you. Then you will know that I am a prophet of the LORD All-Powerful.

That's also the same well the Israelites sang about in this song: Let's celebrate! The well has given us water.

So I will call you Peter, which means “a rock”. On this rock I will build my church, and death itself will not have any power over it.
