Don't let children be created or joyful shouts be heard ever again in that night.

My only songs are sorrow and sadness.

At your drinking parties you have the music of stringed instruments, tambourines, and flutes. But you never even think about all the LORD has done,

Warn the people of Judah that I, the LORD All-Powerful, will put an end to all their parties and wedding celebrations.

I will put an end to your parties and wedding celebrations; no one will grind grain or be here to light the lamps at night.

When I have finished with your land, there will be deathly silence in the empty ruins of Jerusalem and the towns of Judah—no happy voices, no sounds of parties or wedding celebrations.

Our leaders are not allowed to decide cases in court, and young people no longer play music.

You will have no reason to sing or play music on harps,

You lived in the garden of Eden and wore jewellery made of brightly-coloured gems and precious stones. They were all set in gold and were ready for you on the day you were born.

I'll stop Israel's celebrations— no more New Moon Festivals, Sabbaths, or other feasts.

So you will be the first to be dragged off as captives; your good times will end.

The music of harps and singers and of flutes and trumpets will no longer be heard. No workers will ever set up shop in that city, and the sound of grinding grain will be silenced for ever.
