You have chosen Israel to be your people for ever, and you have become their God.

This may be what saves me, because no guilty person would come to his court.

They are dependable and not afraid, and they will live to see their enemies defeated.

My power and my strength come from the LORD, and he has saved me.

I praise the LORD for answering my prayers and saving me.

You, LORD, are the light that keeps me safe. I am not afraid of anyone. You protect me, and I have no fears.

You are strong, and your mighty power put the mountains in place.

You always protect us and save us from death.

Our Lord and our God, your terrible enemies are ready for war, but you will crush their skulls.

Make them realize that you are the LORD Most High, the only ruler of earth!

The LORD is my strength, the reason for my song, because he has saved me. I praise and honour the LORD— he is my God and the God of my ancestors.

Now the LORD God All-Powerful says to his people in Jerusalem: The Assyrians will beat you with sticks and abuse you, just as the Egyptians did. But don't be afraid of them.

Israel, you have forgotten the God who saves you, the one who is the mighty rock where you find protection. You plant the finest flowers to honour a foreign god.

Yet if the vineyard depends on me for protection, it will become my friend and be at peace with me.

They will be a place of safety from stormy winds, a stream in the desert, and a rock that gives shade from the heat of the sun.

The LORD is our judge and our ruler; the LORD is our king and will keep us safe.

You, LORD, will save me, and every day that we live we will sing in your temple to the music of stringed instruments.

But Israel, I, the LORD, will always keep you safe and free from shame.

Even before I was born, the LORD God chose me to serve him and to lead back the people of Israel. So the LORD has honoured me and made me strong.

None of you respect the LORD or obey his servant. You walk in the dark instead of the light; you don't trust the name of the LORD your God.

I am the LORD, the one who encourages you. Why are you afraid of mere humans? They dry up and die like grass.

I celebrate and shout because of my LORD God. His saving power and justice are the very clothes I wear. They are more beautiful than the jewellery worn by a bride or a groom.

Here is what the LORD has said for all the earth to hear: “Soon I will come to save the city of Zion, and to reward you.

Celebrate and be glad for ever! I am creating a Jerusalem, full of happy people.

But the LORD will still give you proof. A virgin is pregnant; she will have a son and will name him Immanuel.

As long as he is king, Israel will have peace, and Judah will be safe. The name of this king will be “The LORD Gives Justice”.

On hilltops, we worshipped idols and made loud noises, but it was all for nothing— only you can save us.

King Nebuchadnezzar said: Praise their God for sending an angel to rescue his servants! They trusted their God and refused to obey my commands. Yes, they chose to die rather than to worship or serve any god except their own.

But I am the LORD God of Judah, and I will have mercy and save Judah by my own power—not by wars and arrows or swords and cavalry.”

People of Zion, celebrate in honour of the LORD your God! He is generous and has sent the autumn and spring rains in the proper seasons.

But with shouts of praise, I will offer a sacrifice to you, my LORD. I will keep my promise, because you are the one with power to save.

but I will still celebrate because the LORD God saves me.

I am proud of the good news! It is God's powerful way of saving all people who have faith, whether they are Jews or Gentiles.

Here is the great mystery of our religion: Christ came as a human. The Spirit proved that he pleased God, and he was seen by angels. Christ was preached to the nations. People in this world put their faith in him, and he was taken up to glory.

as they shouted, “Our God, who sits upon the throne, has the power to save his people, and so does the Lamb.”

Hannah prayed: You make me strong and happy, LORD. You rescued me. Now I can be glad and laugh at my enemies.
