Sound a warning! Israel, you broke our agreement and ignored my teaching. Now an eagle is swooping down to attack my land.

The Assyrian army commander answered, “My king sent me to speak to everyone, not just to you leaders. These people will soon have to eat their own body waste and drink their own urine! And so will the three of you.”

Everyone on this earth, listen with care! A signal will be given on the mountains, and you will hear a trumpet.

The earth is polluted because its people disobeyed the laws of God, breaking their agreement that was to last for ever.

Shout the message! Don't hold back. Say to my people Israel: You've sinned! You've turned against the LORD.

It will be different from the agreement I made with their ancestors when I led them out of Egypt. Although I was their God, they broke that agreement.

You asked me to be a witness when you made the agreement to set your slaves free. And as part of the ceremony you cut a calf into two parts, then walked between the parts. But you people of Jerusalem have broken that agreement as well as my agreement with Israel. So I will do to you what you did to that calf.

Look! The enemy army swoops down like an eagle; their cavalry and chariots race faster than storm clouds blown by the wind.” Then you will answer, “We are doomed!”

“Sound the trumpets, my people. Warn the people of Judah, ‘Run for your lives! Head for Jerusalem or another walled town!’ “Jeremiah, tell them I'm sending disaster from the north.

Moab, an enemy swoops down like an eagle spreading its wings over your land.

An enemy will swoop down to attack you, like an eagle spreading its wings and circling over Bozrah. Your warriors will be gripped by fear.

Jerusalem, you deserve to be punished, because you broke your promises and ignored our agreement.
