the LORD sent him back to Hezekiah with this message: Hezekiah, you are the ruler of my people, and I am the LORD God, who was worshipped by your ancestor David. I heard you pray, and I saw you cry. I will heal you, so that three days from now you will be able to worship in my temple.

May he always rule with you, God, at his side; may your love and loyalty watch over him.

You made me suffer a lot, but you will bring me back from this deep pit and give me new life.

Your people will rise to life! Tell them to leave their graves and celebrate with shouts. You refresh the earth like morning dew; you give life to the dead.

Then the LORD will bandage his people's injuries and heal the wounds he has caused. The moon will shine as bright as the sun, and the sun will shine seven times brighter than usual. It will be like the light of seven days all at once.

Should I, the LORD, rescue you from death and the grave? No! I call death and the grave to strike you like a plague. I refuse to show mercy.

No one realizes that I have seen their sins surround them like a flood.

In a little while the people of this world won't be able to see me, but you will see me. And because I live, you will live.

Whether we live or die, it must be for the Lord. Alive or dead, we still belong to the Lord.

He was buried, and three days later he was raised to life, as the Scriptures say.
