Gilead is terribly sinful and will end up ruined. Bulls are sacrificed in Gilgal on altars made of stones, but those stones will be scattered in every field.

Elijah was a prophet from Tishbe in Gilead. One day he went to King Ahab and said, “I'm a servant of the living LORD, the God of Israel. And I swear in his name that it won't rain until I say so. There won't even be any dew on the ground.”

So the LORD made sure that every prophet warned Israel and Judah with these words: “I, the LORD, command you to stop doing sinful things and start obeying my laws and teachings! I gave them to your ancestors, and I told my servants the prophets to repeat them to you.”

Idols are merely a joke, and when the time is right, they will be destroyed.

Idols are worthless, and anyone who worships them is a fool!

Long ago you left me and broke all ties between us, refusing to be my servant. Now you worship other gods by having sex on hilltops or in the shade of large trees.

Go and cry to the gods you made! There should be enough of them to save you, because Judah has as many gods as it has towns.

Ezekiel, son of man, tell the people of Israel the following story,

You were a healthy vine covered with grapes. But the more grapes you grew, the more altars you built; the better off you became, the better shrines you set up for pagan gods.

You are deceitful and disloyal. So you will pay for your sins, because the LORD will destroy your altars and images.

Israel, you are unfaithful, but don't lead Judah to sin. Stop worshipping at Gilgal or at sinful Bethel. And stop making promises in my name— the name of the living LORD.

Everyone in Gilead is evil; your hands are stained with the blood of victims.

Israel, you have built many altars where you offer sacrifices for sin. But these altars have become places for sin.

Israel, I first began to hate you because you did evil at Gilgal. Now I will chase you out of my house. No longer will I love you; your leaders betrayed me.

Come to Bethel and Gilgal. Sin all you want! Offer sacrifices the next morning and bring a tenth of your crops on the third day.

Don't go to Gilgal or Bethel or even to Beersheba. Gilgal will be dragged away, and Bethel will end up as nothing.”

All who worship worthless idols turn from the God who offers them mercy.

Then after commanding them to listen carefully, he said: “I, the LORD, speak to prophets in visions and dreams.
